Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. It’s really February already! I know, I can’t believe it either.
Chocolate and Valentine’s Day go hand in hand. The husband is a chocolate enthusiast, so chocolate directly translates to love in our house.
My blogging friend, Julie @ Hostess at Heart, had these fabulous treats up on her blog couple of months ago and I knew I HAD to make them. These Chocolate Hand Pies have a crispy, flaky pastry surrounding a smooth and creamy chocolate center, drizzled with even more chocolate. They disappeared in about 30 minutes.
Do yourself a favor and make these for a sweetheart or yourself ASAP ❤️️
Unfold puff pastry and roll out evenly on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 6-4″ rounds. Place rounds on parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat with second puff pastry sheet.
Heat chocolate in the microwave, 30 seconds at a time until melted and smooth. Whisk egg white and water together and brush along the edges of each round.
Spoon 1 Tablespoon of chocolate right in the center.
Fold the rounds in half and press the edges together with your fingers. Crimp the edges with a fork.
Pierce the top with a fork 3 times to let the steam escape and sprinkle with turbinado sugar. Bake for 15 minutes until nice and golden brown.
Pour remaining chocolate in a zip-top bag and snip off a small bit of the corner (heat up chocolate for 30 seconds in the microwave if needed before pouring into the bag). Drizzle over the hand pies.
Dig in! So flaky, chocolatey and delicious!

You really can’t!
Hand pies are DANGEROUS – because I mean… They’re meant to be picked up by your hand and SHOVED in your face…. AS FAST as possible… No? lol
Absolutely! 😀
Your hand pies look bakery perfect Sarah and I really appreciate the shout out. They are making me hungry for another batch! Good thing they are so easy.
Thank you for showing me such a great and easy recipe!
I remember these little hand pies…they look dangerously delicious. I’ve resisted them so far but now I have a second temptation.
Don’t resist, just do it 😉
